CP has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) for the first time and in the North America Index (DJSI North America) for the third consecutive year.
Our continued commitment to diversity and inclusion
In 2020, CP published our first commitment to diversity and inclusion, articulating our resolve to promote and maintain a diverse and inclusive workplace.
We re-doubled our efforts to collaborate with employees, communities along our network, and partner organizations to progress and support our commitment toward a more representative and inclusive workplace.
To further support our commitment to diversity and inclusion, in we introduced three diversity councils in 2020. These three councils, focused on racial diversity, gender and 2SLGBTQ+ diversity, and Indigenous diversity, are each chaired by a senior leader at CP and made up of a diverse group of employees from across the company.
The intent is to work collaboratively to ensure we consider diversity and inclusion when making decisions, provide feedback on corporate direction, come up with innovative ideas for promoting diversity and inclusion and support initiatives that relate to each council’s area of focus.
Since the creation of the councils in late 2020, members have been meeting on a monthly basis to discuss what we as a company can do, with all hands on deck, to make CP an inclusive environment we are all proud to be part of. Though the councils have only been active for less than a year, they have experienced great collaboration and engagement across the company.
- The Racial Diversity Council celebrated Black History Month in February, sharing interesting facts and stories about how Black people contributed to the success of the railway industry.
- The Gender and 2SLGBTQ+ Diversity Council celebrated Women’s History Month in March and encouraged employees to recognize women at CP who inspire them.
- The Indigenous Diversity Council invited speaker and author Bob Joseph to educate employees on the history of Indigenous Peoples in Canada and the challenges faced today.
Diversity and inclusion are a priority focus area of CP and we are committed to the efforts we have made and will continue to make in our journey to becoming a more diverse and inclusive company.
