CP has begun work to install a solar energy farm at its corporate headquarters in Calgary. The installation is expected to generate more power than consumed annually at CP's main headquarters building by early 2021.

CP leaders proudly recognized the accomplishments of 16 employees and three CP health and safety committees, for outstanding safety behaviour at the inaugural 2019 Safety Awards for Excellence Gala, hosted in Calgary last September.

CP is retrofitting previously retired locomotives with powerful and efficient heavy-haul locomotive platforms supported by upgraded engines. The upgraded engine systems are more efficient and generate less emissions.

In June 2019, CP officially renamed Hobbema train station located in central Alberta to Maskwacis, in acknowledgement of the true heritage of the land and the tribes who originated on Treaty 6 territory.
